"From Strait to Create" is an artistic practice developed by artist Dan Reisner. Reisner deployed this practice with hundreds of individuals and groups, who seek to develop their creative abilities, to change and form new perspectives on a personal or an organizational level.

Taking Part in Creating Art
This unique workshop was specially created during and for the Covid-19 challenging era. Participants, joining through the Zoom appliance, can express their feelings, emotions, fears and hopes. These are noted by Reisner at his studio. Then, as the next stage, Reisner starts to give physical form to these ideas on a very large canvas. Thus the participants take part in a unique experience of seeing how amorphous emotions are embodied into material shapes and colors in the concrete world.
Seeing one’s own words and ideas transform into art is a moment of sharing and release, leading the participants to think differently on how they can create their future?

This process was specially developed in order to support medical and mental health teams who were treating Covid-19 patients and families. More than twenty sessions have already taken place, and now we are offering this unique experience forteams around the world who wish to bring new perspectives and creativity to their organzation.
At the beginning of the session, Dan guides the participants through a short tour of his studio and art works, explaining the basic ideas behind the “From Strait to Create” practice, and how these ideas will be used in the session.
BACKGROUND
In 2000, after being diagnosed with PTSD due to his IDF military service as a combat medic in Lebanon, Reisner began looking for ways to emerge from his painful and unresolved personal trauma.
He knew that the one practice he could trust in this challenging situation was his creative abilities.
The "From Strait to Create" practice allows participants to emerge from unresolved inner difficulties through identifying, understanding, and observing them from a distance. Participants are given the opportunity to choose, perhaps for the first time, to enter consciously into new areas of their psyche and thus create change.
Once this new perspective of the emotional baggage takes shape, form and weight, the participants are able to recognize it and see its features. At this point, an opportunity is created to break free and separate from the previous and unresolved inner difficulty, thus creating a new inner space that allows new goals to be achieved.
The process is led and accompanied by Reisner, who has had extensive experience in the creative process and is intimately familiar with the weight of traumatic experiences from which he learned how to break free.
About The Artist
Dan Reisner (b. 1964, Haifa, Israel) is a sculptor and multi-disciplinary artist, specializing in outdoor sculpture in urban public and private spaces, currently living and working in Tel Aviv, Israel.
Dan Reisner's work have been exhibited in major local and international museums and galleries.
